Transporting Dangerous Goods in 3.5 tonne GVW Regulation Changes
Do you or your company deliver dangerous goods in a small, less that 3.5 tonnes GVW, vehicle?
From the 1st January 2007 your driver will require an ADR vocational training certificate for the appropriate class or classes of dangerous goods being carried, if the load falls within the scope of the dangerous goods regulations.
The thresholds are shown in the table below:
| Transport category | Packing group | Load limit (Litres or Kg) |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0 | |
| 1 | I | 20 |
| 2 | II | 333 |
| 3 | III | 1000 |
| 4 | Unlimited |
The payload of an Iveco Daily or a similar small box van can be over 1000 kg.
Paints and inks can be Packing Group II materials, as can other chemical products and materials used throughout industry.
Check the material safety data sheets (MSDS) of the products and materials you carry.
Any doubt contact Freightsafe and don't be caught out.
